Vidskepnad
Vidskepnad is a story about friendship, creativity, and finding an existential foothold in the modern world. It is written as a dialogue between the characters Anna and her self-isolated friend Daniel. Anna visits him, hoping to draw him back into the social world. Daniel has become increasingly trapped in a private realm of his own making —consisting of his imagination and notebooks— and has stopped leaving his home. Concerned for her friend, Anna comes to confront him. However, she finds herself emersed in something she believed existed only in Daniel’s imagination, something that reveals itself to be startlingly real once she begins to connect with it. The world of imagination is represented by a live band assembled specifically for this production. The story also unfolds through the songs performed by the band —thoughts, emotions, and the characters' experiences both shape and are shaped by the music— yet the characters themselves only vaguely sense the songs being played. Vidskepnad is not quite a musical; rather, it is a fusion of theater and a live concert, telling a story about the balance between being a realist who manages the pragmatic demands of life and a dreamer who dares to seek meaning through creativity.
