Snårskogen Productions

This was our first collaboration with the incredible cultural youth-association called KAUS, as well as their parent association RIV - Riksteatern i Vindeln.

Our part in this event was to create a 35 minute long, multidisciplinary show which had the 1800s as an inspirational theme. We created Lindansaren (The Tightrope Walker), a story about the very human struggle to find a balance between the logical and industrious vs the romantic and intuitive aspects of the self. We first enter the story by hearing a poem read aloud. Two dancers, two halves of a whole, move as one while they balance on a line that crosses the stage diagonally. Live music begins to join the scene half-way through and grows more and more stormy, and towards the end of the poem the character loses balance and splits into two halves that land on each side of the tightrope. The tightrope represents a one-way-mirror type of barrier, so that one half can see the other but not vice-versa. The story is about the two halves struggling without each other and finally reuniting. Three of the characters were elemental forces that helped drive the narrative as they played live music. The flutist represented the wind, the piano player represented fire, and the guitar player represented earth/the mountains. Other artforms involved in the show were dance and aerial silks.
